CarGenius AI Featured in Automotive News Article on AI Agents and the Future of Vehicle Search

Automotive News highlights how CarGenius AI and CarEdge are testing new ways for dealerships and consumers to connect directly through AI.

CarGenius AI was recently featured in Automotive News in an article examining how AI agents may reshape online vehicle shopping and challenge the role of traditional third-party listing sites.

The article, titled "Can AI agents replace third-party car listings sites? Some dealerships are testing them," looks at pilot programs from both CarGenius AI and CarEdge that are helping dealerships connect more directly with consumers through AI-powered tools.

For decades, third-party listing sites have played a major role in how consumers search for cars online. But as shoppers increasingly use AI tools to research vehicles, compare options, and decide which dealerships to contact, a new model is emerging: one where dealerships can make their own inventory, pricing, store information, and customer tools accessible directly to AI agents.

The article notes that CarGenius AI launched in October and began its pilot in January with 35 dealerships. It also highlights Vinart Dealerships in Allentown, Pennsylvania, which has been testing CarGenius AI technology since January and reported promising early results.

CarEdge was also featured for its work building AI tools that represent consumers in the shopping and negotiation process, including a pilot designed to send leads directly to dealerships.

Together, these efforts point to a broader shift in automotive retail: AI is becoming a new discovery layer for car shopping. For dealerships, that creates both a challenge and an opportunity. The dealers that make their inventory and tools accessible to AI will be better positioned to reach high-intent shoppers directly as consumer behavior changes.

"AI will not just change the interface for car shopping," said Corey Lydstone, CEO and co-founder of CarGenius AI. "It will change how consumers find dealerships, how they evaluate inventory, and how dealers connect with high-intent shoppers. Our goal is to make sure dealerships are directly connected to that future."
